PURPOSE:To perform positive washing within a short time even in a recording apparatus using a water insoluble ink liquid, by confirming the state of a nozzle part by water after washing an ink jet apparatus with water and a washing solvent dissolvable in the ink liquid. CONSTITUTION:The constitutional parts (e.g., an ink chamber 4) of an ink jet recording apparatus using an ink liquid insoluble in water is washed with water and a solvent soluble in the ink liquid (e.g., CH3OH, C2H5OH or acetone) and, in the next step, water is flowed into an ink supply line 6 and it is confirmed that an emitting orifice 2 is not clogged from the emitting state of water from the emitting orifice 2 to confirm the state of the nozzle part. In this case, it is pref. to wash to the interior of an air chamber by flowing water thereinto from an air supply line 5 in succession to washing due to the aforementioned solvent and, after the state of the nozzle part is confirmed, moisture in a head part is usually dried and removed by vacuum drying. |
