PURPOSE:To ensure a smooth and stable stopping operation of a tape from a quick traversing mode by turning off the 2nd switching circuit by a time constant circuit with a delay of a fixed time in a stop operation mode and driving a motor at a low speed via a current limiting resistance. CONSTITUTION:When a quick traverse operation is stopped, the Q output of a flip-flop circuit 7 is set at L level. Thus the 1st switching circuit 9 is turned off and the revolution of a motor 14 is quickly stopped. While the 2nd switching circuit 12 is kept on for a period of time decided by a time constant circuit 13. Meanhile a current limited by a resistance 16 flows to the motor 14, and the motor keeps its revolutions at a low speed for a fixed period of time and is stopped. Therefore the tape driving is not stopped suddenly but stopped after driving at a low speed for a little while. Thus the tape is never drawn between a reel and a tape guide.
