PURPOSE:To improve the output performance of an engine, by achieving rapid combustion of air-fuel mixture by forming two intake valve ports at one of two inclined top surfaces which extend downward to both sides from the ridge line at the central portion of the top surface of a combustion chamber while forming one exhaust valve port and an ignition plug at the other of the two inclined top surfaces. CONSTITUTION:In an internal combustion engine, in which a combustion chamber 6 is formed at the portion of the bottom surface of a cylinder head 2 facing the upper surface of a piston 5, the top surface 7 of the combustion chamber 6 is constituted by two inclined surfaces 71, 72 which extend downward to both sides from the ridge line 8 formed substantially at the central portion of the top surface 7. A first intake valve port 91 and a second intake valve port 92 having a diameter smaller than that of the first intake valve port 91 are formed at one inclined surface 71 in the manner that they are disposed along the ridge line 8. On the other hand, one exhaust valve port 10 is formed at the portion of the other inclined surface 72 opposing the first intake valve port 91, and an ignition plug 12 is attached to the other inclined surface 72 such that the electrode is located at the portion opposing the second intake valve port 92 and as close to the central portion of the top surface as possible. |
