PURPOSE:To suppress the decomposition of discharge gas, to improve the output of a laser oscillating tube and to lower the discharge starting voltage and the discharge maintaining voltage by a method wherein an isotope of hydrogen, tritium, is added in the discharge gas sealed in a discharge tube. CONSTITUTION:A pair of electrode 3 are provided in the interior of a discharge tube 1 having a cooling part 6, wherein cooling water is introduced, and a sealed CO2 laser oscillating tube is constituted by sealing discharge gas 2 in the discharge tube 1. Laser beams are drawn out from Brewster windows 4. A <3>H (tritium) is added in the discharge gas 2 in forms of <3>H2 and <3>H2O and the discharge gas is kept as it has been sealed in the discharge tube 1 and is made to recombine with CO, which is generated at the time of laser oscillation of the discharge tube 1, for making to suppress the decomposition of the discharge gas. |
