PURPOSE:To enable the tracking of the movement of a moving object accurately wherever the optical environment is poor by detecting a pattern at a desired part of the moving object using the correlation method. CONSTITUTION:XY coordinate data of a pattern image 5a from a TV camera 1 is stored into image memories 7 and 8 via a position calculating circuit 6 and a signal from a TV camera 1 is converted into image data of 16 gradations with an A/D converter 4, which is stored alternately into the memories 7 and 8 via a switch 9. A correlation arithmetic unit 10 executes a computation of correlation in a partial image from the memories 7 and 8 and a detector 11 detects the peak of the correlation to output a shift of the partial image to the circuit 6, which adds the shift to the XY coordinate data and outputs an addition data by a signal S. This operation is executed sequentially with respect to the time-series image to obtain the XY data of a moving object, which is recorded with an XY recorder. |
