PURPOSE:To manufacture easily a composite material of an amorphous material and a base material without any restriction on the form and with good adhesiveness at a pressure bonded interface by irradiating a crystal arranged at a specified position of the base material with a particle beam preferentially to make the crystal amorphous. CONSTITUTION:A kind of crystal easily to be made amorphous with the irradiation of a particle beam is previously arranged as the crystal body at a specified position on the surface or in the inside of a base material. The crystal is irradiated with the particle beam under the irradiating condition to make the crystal amorphous. In this way, the arranged crystal is preferentially made amorphous, and a composite material having a specified distribution of amorphous phases can be manufactured rapidly, easily, and accurately at low cost. The compd. such as Zr2Al, Fe2Ti, ZrCu, V3Si, Cu3Ti, Fe-Zr, etc. is used as said crystal, and an electron beam having the highest penetrating power is suitably used as the particle beam.
