PURPOSE:To improve the damaging action of high Cr cast iron contg. specified percentages of C and Cr on a material confronting the cast iron during sliding by heating and holding the cast iron under specified conditions and air-cooling it to make the angular shape of carbide in the structure roundish. CONSTITUTION:High Cr cast iron consisting of 1.5-3.5wt% C, 15-35wt% Cr and the balance essentially Fe is held at 950-1,300 deg.C for 0.5-100hr, and it is air-cooled to make the angular shape of primary carbide in the structure of the cast iron roundish. The damaging action of the cast iron on a material confronting the cast iron during sliding can be improved while maintaining the wear resistance and scuffing resistance of the cast iron as a sliding member. |
