PURPOSE:To orient a specific orientation in the thickness direstion and to produce a light-gauge high silicon steel strip which is not oriented in the plane by subjecting the ultraquickly cooled light-gauge high silicon steel strip which is manufactured by a single roll method and contains a specific amt. of silicon to cold rolling and annealing. CONSTITUTION:A high silicon steel strip which contains 4.0-10.0wt% silicon, consists of the balance substantially iron, and is right after the manufacture by an ultraquick cooling process by a single roll method is cold-rolled at >=40% and is subjected to thermal annealing in a nonoxidative atmosphere kept at 600-1,050 deg.C and further is cold rolled at >=40% and to thermal annealing in a nonoxidative atmosphere kept at 600-1,050 deg.C. The light-gauge high silicon steel strip in which the <100> direction is oriented in the thickness direction of the strip and the inside of the plane thereof not oriented, is thus obtd. The nonoxidative atmosphere is vacuum under 1X10<-2>-1X10<-4>Torr or at least one kind of gas among gaseous Ar, nitrogen and hydrogen. The gaseous impurities such as oxygen, H2S and steam contained in the gas are kept at 1-500ppm. |
