The device consists of a laser generator 1 and a system 4 for varying the frequency of the laser radiation from the generator. An optical antenna 7 placed at the output of the generator creates a flat beam oscillating between two limiting planes P1, P2. An optical receiving system 9 forms on an array of photodetectors 10 the image of the curve followed by the flat beam as it intersects the surface of the object.
