The invention relates to an improved jar opener. According to the invention the jar opener is obtained from a flat blank 10 cut out in order to define an operating handle 11 and a shaft 12 in the form of a split cylinder 13, the free edges 13a, 13b of this cylinder delimiting a conical gripping slit 14.
