Turning process which consists in placing the workpiece to be turned in contact with at least two tools 2, 3 which have identical cutting characteristics, and in displacing the tools so that they carry out substantially the same work simultaneously and in opposition, on the same surface of the workpiece, and substantially in the same region of the latter extending from the vicinity of a plane perpendicular 7 to the axis of the workpiece and which passes through the axis of one of the tools, and lathe for implementing said process.
