HIGH PRESSURE SODIUM LAMP

PURPOSE:To suppress the scattering of electrode material at lamp start and improve the life characteristics of the lamp by sealing neon-argon mixed gas in a glow tube as the starting gas under specific pressure and at a partial pressure ratio and starting the glow using a lighting tube or a solid lighting element. CONSTITUTION:The inner part of the glow tube 5 of a high pressure sodium lamp 1 with the rated input of 70 to 100W encloses sodium, metal for buffering gas and neon-argon mixed gas (argon partial pressure ratio 76 to 95%) as the starting gas in 35 to 280Torr. Heat protective coats 6 and 7 are provided on both ends of the glow tube 5 and the coolest point temperature of the glow tube is improved during its lighting. A starting assisting conductor 8 is provided on the outer wall of the glow tube 5 and is connected to a stem wire 10 through a heat-response switch 9. While the glow tube 5 is lighting, the switch is separated from the outer wall of the glow tube 5 by the actuation of the heat-response switch 9.
