A hydraulic control valve for pressure control or flow control consists of a base, which is adapted to fit into the hydraulic line, and a journal which is seated thereon. The journal has passing through it an axial channel which opens, via radial channels, on the outer circumference of the journal. A slide ring, which is supported against a spring, forms a control edge with the radial channel and forms a restrictor aperture with the wall of the hydraulic line, is seated on the journal. In the case of this design, the control valve is suitable for use as an installation valve for hydraulic lines, since it requires no additional space.
