In a target for shooting booths, having a target body (9) which can be knocked over by a projectile, in order to eliminate the proneness to faults and to be able to return the target body rapidly to the position of readiness after it has been knocked over, the target body (9) is arranged pivotably in a support (1) and a spring-loaded lock (13, 15), which is released when a projectile strikes the target body, holds the latter in a position of readiness. A suitable form of spring-loaded lock is at least one ball-type latch (13) which can be displaced transversely in retaining parts (3) on the support (1) and on which a compression spring (15) acts. It is advantageous to make use of two ball-type latches arranged side by side and at a distance apart, which engage behind the target body in the position of readiness. <IMAGE>
