<p>PURPOSE:To produce the titled compound economically in an industrial scale, by hydroformylating 3-methyl-3-buten-1-ol with hydrogen and carbon monoxide in the presence of a rhodium complex compound catalyst, extracting the reaction product with water or an aqueous mixture, and recycling the extraction residue as the catalyst solution. CONSTITUTION:3-Methyl-3-buten-1-ol is hydroformulated with the gaseous mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide in a solvent comprising an aliphatic hydrocarbon, alicyclic hydrocarbon, or a mixture of aromatic hydrocarbon and aliphatic hydrocarbon or alicyclic hydrocarbon, in the presence of a rhodium complex compound [e.g. Rh6(CO)16] (0.01-0.5mg-atom/1 in terms of Rh atom) and a trisubstituted phosphine (e.g. triphenylphosphine) (0.01-10m-mol/l). The reaction mixture is extracted with water or a mixture of water and a polyhydric alcohol (e.g. ethylene glycol), and the extraction residue is recycled as the catalyst solution to the hydroformylation reaction zone.</p> |
