A device for vertically adjusting the upholstery of a seat is described. The device comprises the upholstery of a seat, which is arranged in a vertically adjustable fashion, a lower arm of a backrest adjustment device which is arranged on the side face of the upholstery of the seat, rotary shafts which extend perpendicularly with respect to the longitudinal direction of the lower arm and rotors which are attached fixedly to the rotary shafts, one rotor being connected via a first connecting element to the front part of the upholstery of the seat and the other rotor being connected via a first connecting rod and a second connecting element to the rear part of the upholstery of the seat, and the rotors being in engagement with turning grips which are arranged on the side of the lower arm. In this way, the height of the front part and of the rear part of the upholstery of the seat can be continuously adjusted independently of one another on the side face of the upholstery of the seat. As a result, the device can be controlled much more conveniently.
