The thermometer for determining the local temperature in organic tissues has a ferrimagnetic temperature sensor 1 which is irradiated with the aid of a direct-current magnetic field 2, which varies in step with a low frequency, and by a microwave transmitter 3 with the aid of a high-frequency field of variable frequency. The temperature sensor 1 emits a resonance signal which depends on the temperature and the magnetic field and which is fed to a receiver 6 for generating a retuning voltage 19 with the aid of which the microwave transmitter 3 is automatically set to the temperature-dependent resonant frequency, which is displayed as temperature value. <IMAGE>
