PURPOSE:To keep the grade of a recording image constant without exerting the effect of the environmental temp. on the current supply energy to a heat generating element even when the environmental temp. changes, by arranging the position of a heating means with respect to the heat generating element at a thermally near position as compared with the position of a temp. detection means to the heat generating element. CONSTITUTION:In a recording head 1, the position of a temp. detection means 5 with respect to a heat generating element 3 is present at a thermally remote position as compared with the position of a heating means 6 with respect to the heat generating means 3 and, in the detection of temp., there is a temp. gradient in a head substrate 2. Therefore, the temp. difference between the temp. detected by the temp. detection means 5 and the temp. of the head substrate 2 in the vicinity of the heat generating element 3 at that time is large when environmental temp. is low but becomes small when the environmental temp. is high. Therefore, when the detection temp. by the temp. detection means 5 is set to a constant value, the head substrate 2 is heated to temp. higher than that at the time of ambient temp. when the environmental temp. is low and heated to temp. lower than that at the time of ambient temp. when the environmental temp. is high. As a result, by setting the detection temp. by the temp. detection means 5 to the constant value, the head substrate 2 can be heated to proper temp. even when the environmental temp. changes. |
