Equipment and a process for removing acid gas fractions from a first gas rich in carbon dioxide and for desulphurising a second gas which is low in carbon dioxide but contains sulphur compounds as impurities, are described. In the process, the first gas is contacted with a solvent which can extract carbon dioxide and sulphur compounds out of the first gas. The solvent containing the carbon dioxide is then separated from the solvent containing sulphur compounds. The second gas is then contacted with the solvent which contains carbon dioxide, in particular under conditions sufficient to cause the carbon dioxide-containing solvent to extract sulphur constituents from the second gas and to release carbon dioxide. The desulphurised second gas is then separated from the solvent containing sulphur compounds from the second gas. |
