Lightweight natural-stone slab on supporting structure for covering ceilings, walls, pillars and the like, and for lining floors, staircases and the like, characterised in that a thin, natural-stone layer is adhesively bonded to a lightweight dimensionally stable and torsion-proof supporting structure which, on the one hand, guarantees safety against rupture of the thin natural-stone layer and, on the other hand, is designed in accordance with the particular attachment and laying technique. The natural-stone layer and supporting structure are joined together in a manner safe against rupture by previously bonding the supporting structure to the natural block which has been prepared for cutting open, and subsequently separating the supporting structure from the natural-stone block with a thin natural-stone layer.
