PURPOSE:To double the sheet storing capacity without any increase in bumber of storing trays by disposing an aligner mechanism adapted to change the sheet transport direction in plural stages between sheet carry-in means and a sorting mechanism. CONSTITUTION:In sorting sheets 3, a roller 8 is previously set to be rotated in direction of an arrow (a) through a driving rod 15 and a longitudinal shaft 13 by driving means 18, so that when a sheet 3 carried in from a copying machine reaches the roller 8, the sheet is turned to reach a sorting mechanism 2. After that, the sheet is stored on the left side of a storing tray 4 by the sorting mechanism 2, and on completion of storing sheets for the number of trays 4, the roller 8 is turned to deflect the carried-in sheet 3. In this arrangement, the sheets 3 to be sorted are overlapped on the sheets 3 already stored and stored on the right side of the tray 4, so as to double the storing capacity for the sheets 3 without an increase in the number of trays. |
