Mechanical shovel with a superstructure which can be pivoted without limit on a travelling mechanism and an attachment holder (6) for a boom (8), which attachment holder (6) can be pivoted laterally at the front on the superstructure. The pivot axis (5) is located at at least one perpendicular distance, corresponding to half the normal shovel width, in front of the front edge (22) of the driver's cab so that, when the boom is pivoted transversely with folded shovel arm (10) and digging shovel (11), this unit remains within the contour of the superstructure. There is an unimpeded view from the driver's cab to the front and to the ground through the folded boom unit. In a main digging position of the superstructure, the second pivot axis (5) is located in the area between the track and the longitudinal centre line L of the travelling mechanism. The side walls of the superstructure do not project laterally beyond the chassis in either the travelling position or the main digging position. <IMAGE> |
