PURPOSE:To obtain high resolution without using any shield by having a lamination of >=3 thin films having magneto-resistance effects formed by insulated layers and securing biases in opposite directions to each other between adjacent thin films. CONSTITUTION:The magnetizing direction 104 of MR films 8, 9 and 10 respectively is tilted by 45 deg. to the lengthwise direction of the MR film owing to the form anisotropy of the MR film itself and a bias magnetic field 103 generated by a bias current 102. The directions are set opposite to each other for the field 103 impressed to films 8 and 10 and the field 103 impressed to the film 9, and therefore the direction 104 is inverted. The changes of resistance of the films 8 and 10 have a phase opposite to the signal magnetic field produced from a medium. When a detection current 101 is supplied to an MR head from a current source, a current which is adversely proportional to the ration between the resistance of each MR film and the full resistance is flowed to the films 8, 9 and 10 respectively since these films are connected in parallel to each other. With use of such an MR head, the half width value can be reduced. Thus the production is possible for a signal having high recording density. |
