PURPOSE:To have the four wheels of a four-wheel drive vehicle function to the maximum by use of a central differential gear equipment which is used in the vehicle by transversely pivoting driving bevel pinions on a carrier and setting a trifle gear ratio on driven bevel gears. CONSTITUTION:In a central differential gear equipment which is used in a four- wheel drive vehicle, front and rear driven bevel gears 2 and 3 faces each other and concentrically pivoted inside a gear case 1 and joints 6 and 7 which connect the supporting shafts 4 and 5 of the gears 2 and 3 to front and rear propeller shafts, respectively are disposed at the ends of the shafts 4 and 5 projecting from a gear case 1. Both the gears 2 and 3 have different numbers of teeth. A drive carrier 8 is concentrically pivoted around both the gears 2 and 3 and a pair of driving bevel pinions 9 which are pivoted on the inner face of the carrier are meshed with both the gears 2 and 3. Said carrier 8 is meshed with the output gear of a transfer transmission via a driven gear 11. A torque ratio may be satisfactorily distributed according to different grounding forces demanded of front and rear wheels, as far as possible.
