In order that the cuff surrounding the patient's end of the catheter tube in a bronchial catheter ensures effective sealing of the bronchus into which the patient's end is inserted relative to the other bronchus and at the same time guarantees ventilation of the upper bronchial branch in the region of which the cuff is located, the latter has a depression which extends from the patient's end along the tube and over part of the length of the cuff and which thus forms a channel from the patient's end to the upper bronchial branch. Above this bronchial branch and thus above the depression the cuff has a circular cross-section with which it rests against the bronchial wall above the upper bronchial branch. |
