PURPOSE:To reduce the capacity of the memory in a character generator, by detecting the left blank part of a fixed pitch character pattern and shifting a character to the left by the detected blank quantity to form a proportional space font pattern. CONSTITUTION:The min. width of the blank part generated between the dot cell end and character part in the fixed pitch font pattern read from a memory means 100 is detected by a blank part detection means 200. A pattern shift means 300 shifts the character of the fixed pitch font pattern to the left by the min. width of the blank part detected by the blank part detection means to form a proportional space font pattern. Therefore, the memory for the space font pattern becomes unnecessary and the capacity of the memory in a character generator can be reduced. |
