DEVICE FOR MEASURING TORQUE OF BORING MACHINE

PURPOSE:To obtain a small-sized torque measuring device reduced at its trouble by converting the rotary torque of an excavating rod into the thrust load of a horizontal shaft driving a spindle holding the rod and detecting the thrust load. CONSTITUTION:When rotating torque is generated in the rod, the thrust load pushing the horizontal shaft 24 in the direction of a compressing load cell 26 is generated by a bevel gear 23a fitted to the spindle holding the rod and a bevel gear 23b engaged with the gear 23a. The horizontal shaft 24 is supported by radial bearings 25a, 25b so as to be moved only in the direction of the compressing load cell 26 and the thrust load is transmitted to a thrust bearing 27 to compress the compressing load cell 26 through a plate 29. The thrust load W generated in the horizontal shaft 24 by the torque T of the lod is shown by the formula.
