PURPOSE:To provide the optical fiber with the functions of glow plug and window for combustion light by a method wherein the optical fiber, having resistance to heat, is penetrated through the part of central axis of the glow plug to provide the optical fiber with a function introducing the light of flame in a combustion chamber to the outside of the chamber. CONSTITUTION:An internal conductor 12 and a coil heater 13, connected to the conductor, are accommodated in a thin cylindrical tube consisting of a threaded pipe 10 and a tip end pipe 11. The tip end pipe 11 is filled with magnesium oxide. The tip end of combustion chamber side of the optical fiber 8 can be processed to form a lense for expanding the angle of absorbing light and the opposite side tip end thereof is connected to the flexible optical fiber 9. The light of flame is taken in by the built-in type glow plug 7, the light is introduced into a phototransistor 18 through the flexible optical fiber 9 to convert it into an electric signal and the signal is inputted into a control circuit 20 through an amplifier 19. The signal of a crank angle sensor 21 is also inputted into the control circuit 20 and the timing of fuel injection may be determined by both of the signals. |
