DIGITAL SPEECH CODER A sequential pattern processing arrangement is operative to form an efficiently coded signal representative of the pattern. A sequential pattern, e.g., a speech pattern, is partitioned into successive time intervals. In each interval, a signal representative of the sequential pattern and a signal representative of an artificial sequential pattern for the frame are generated. Responsive to the sequential pattern representative and artificial pattern representative signals, a coded signal is formed that is adapted to minimize the difference between the sequential pattern representative and artificial pattern representative signals. The coded signal is utilized to construct a replica of the interval sequential pattern.
