The invention relates to a thermostat for the temperature stabilisation of specimen material for analyses in medical, research and industrial laboratories. Its aim is to increase the temperature stability. The object to be achieved was a thermostat having a high temperature stability in a wide range of desired values under the conditions of frequent exchange of specimen material. The solution proceeds from the following known means: a temperature stabilising block, a convector, a Peltier battery between them, and an electronic control circuit which includes on the input side a temperature sensor in the temperature stabilising block and, on the output side, the Peltier battery. The invention provides that the control circuit is provided with an additional circuit whose temperature sensor is arranged on the convector. It has adjustable gains for negative and positive differences of the desired temperature from the ambient temperature. The output circuit of the control circuit consists of a summing circuit and a power output stage having the Peltier battery as load.
