PURPOSE:To permit automatic tool transfer control adapted to tool life control by providing a tool life control unit in a automatic tool transfer unit for supplying the tool from one tool housing means to another one of a machine tool. CONSTITUTION:When an electronic computer 200 completes working by a tool T1, attaches a next process tool T2 to a spindle by a spider arm according to a tool interchanging command 301 and receives a tool completion signal 223 and then a tool magazine file confirming command 307, it reads out a magazine file and confirms whether or not the tool number T1 is stored in a register 560. When the tool number T1 is stored, since the tool T1 is an universal tool transferred from a concentrated control room and newly reground, the computer generates a command 309 which commands such tool should be replaced by a tool T1L stored in a tool storing magazine and expiring its life, and the tool T1L is replaced by T1 through a tool interchanging circuit 290 and tool storing magazine drive circuit 292. Thus, automatic tool transfer control adapted to tool life control can be carried out. |
