SEPARATION OF TRANS-TERPENOID COMPOUND FROM MIXTURE CONTAINING TRANS-TERPENOID COMPOUND

PURPOSE:To separate and recover a trans-terpenoid compound useful as an intermediate of perfumes and pharmaceuticals from the clathrate composition obtained by contacting a trans-terpenoid-containing mixture with metacyclophane. CONSTITUTION:A mixture containing the trans-terpenoid compounds of formula I and II (n is integer of 1-10; A1 and A2 are <=5C organic group) is made to contact with metacyclophane of formula III at 20-150 deg.C to obtain a clathrate compound. The amount of metacyclophane is 0.05-20mol per 1mol of the trans- terpenoid compound in the mixture. The obtained clathrate compound is separated and heated at 120-280 deg.C to evaporate and separate the trans-terpenoid compound, or the clathrate compound is made to contact with a solvent such as n- hexane, benzene, etc. to separate the trans-terpenoid compound.
