PURPOSE:To provide a dentifrice composition capable of surely controlling the brushing time of the teeth without lowering the appearance of the dentifrice by the color of the pigment contained therein, by covering the surface of particles composed of a pigment and a water-insoluble or hardly soluble polymer with inorganic powder, and using the coated particle as a component of the composition. CONSTITUTION:The surface of particles composed of (A) a pigment and (B) a water-insoluble or hardly soluble polymer is covered with (C) inorganic powder (e.g. titanium oxide having an average particle diameter of 0.1-5mum), and the coated particle is used as a component of the objective composition. Since the color of the pigment is made visible by the collapse of the inorganic powder layer after a definite time of brushing, the brushing time can be controlled surely, and the oral cavity can be cleaned. The polymer is preferably a gel-forming polyvinyl alcohol having a saponification degree of >=85% and a polymerization degree of >=500. Preferably, the weight ratio of A:B is 1:0.01-5, and that of A+B: inorganic powder is 100:1-1:50. |
