PURPOSE:To provide a vinyl chloride resin emulsion suitable for use in coating the inner surfaces of cans used as containers for foods, cosmetics and pharmaceutical preparations, by emulsion-polymerizing vinyl chloride monomer and three other specified monomers. CONSTITUTION:30-85wt% vinyl chloride monomer, 10-50wt% at least one member (e.g. methyl acrylate) selected from among an unsaturated mono-carboxylate ester, an unsaturated dicarboxylate diester and a fatty acid vinyl ester, 0.1-20wt% at least one member (e.g. acrylic acid) selected from among monomers contg. a carboxyl, glycidyl or amide group, and 0.5-7wt% at least one monomer (e.g. vinyl-sulfonic acid) selected from monomers (salt) contg. vinyl group (or allyl or methallyl group) and sulfo group, are emulsion-polymerized. The resulting aq. resin emulsion is applied to the surface of a metallic article and baked, whereby a coating film having good adhesion and excellent resistance can be obtd. |
