PURPOSE:To improve the deterioration in sound quality due to tape cassette by forming a tape guide block in a tape cassette of three-piece type with a nonmagnetic metallic material. CONSTITUTION:A tape guide block 24 is formed out of a die-cast 35 made of the nonmagnetic metallic material, e.g., aluminum or aluminum alloy and finished into a prescribed size and form by a cutting tool. Then a hard coating layer (e.g., Al2O3, TiO2, TiN, SiC, Si3N4, BN or the like) 36 using a nitride, carbide or oxide of an element selected among a group of Ti, Si, Al and B as major component is formed to the surface by the chemical vapor-deposition method, the physical vapor-depostion method or the like. Since the hard coating layer 26 has a very large wear resistance, the thickness of the coating layer can be very little, e.g., 1-3mum. Thus, the perpendicularity wear-resistance, rigidity, heat conductivity or the like of the tape guide part are improved as above and the deterioration in the sound quality due to the tape cassette is improved. |
