<p>PURPOSE:To measure accurately a line loss of a subscriber line using a repeater at each section by providing an oscillator having a specific frequency to each repeater and each terminator to couple the oscillator to a by-pass loop at test. CONSTITUTION:A station-side device 1 drives at first a switching section 2 to change over the connection from the normal state in solid lines to dotted lines. Then the connection of terminals a, b is changed over to terminals a, c, a constant output of a frequency oscillator F1 specific to a repeater 4 is given to an incoming line of the device 1 to measure the reception level by a level meter L. Then the terminals a, b are connected to change over the connection of terminals d, e to terminals d, f, a constant output of the oscillator F1 of the repeater 4 is given to an outgoing line to measure the reception level by the level meter L. Then a feeding section 3 is connected to the state in dotted lines and a changeover section 5 is driven by the feeding from the feeding section 3 to bring the connection to the state in dotted lines to give a constant output of a specific frequency oscillator F2 of the terminator 6 to both the incoming and outgoing lines, thereby measuring the reception level by the level meter L. Thus, the line loss at each section is measured accurately.</p> |
