PURPOSE:To obtain the solar cell enabling the improved photoelectric transfer efficiency by forming the low-resistance metal layer of the lower electrode layer as the metal layer having the high visible-light reflectance so as to achieve the high reflectance of the whole lower electrode layer whereas retaining a thickness of the barrier layer to be the necessary thickness or over. CONSTITUTION:For the electrically insulating substrae, an organic high molecular sheet such as polyethylene terephthalate resin, a glass plate or a ceramic plate is used and the lower electrode layer is spread in a manner a surface resistance is 10OMEGA/? or less. For this low-resistance metal layer, Al, Au or Ag is used and particularly a layer of Al or Al alloy is preferable. These metal layers are deposited on the substrate by vapor deposition to the thickness of 0.01- 20mum. Meanwhile, for the barrier layer, a single metal or an alloy of Mo, Cr or Ta or a transparent oxide such as Al oxide is used. For preventing direct contact of the low-resistance metal layer and an amorphous semiconductor layer, the varrier layer of the predetermined thickness or over is arranged between them, thereby achieving the solar cell. |
