PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of automatic welding by providing a difference in operating time between height control and inversion control of oscillation, detecting exactly the position of a groove weld line where the oscillation of said line inverts and performing surely vertical movement of a welding torch in the stage of multi-layer build-up welding. CONSTITUTION:An arm 4 is cantilevered to a base shaft 3 erected from a carriage 2 and is swiveled within the horizontal plane centering at the shaft 3. The vertical shaft 5 at the top end of the arm 4 is supported rotatably around the axis and a torch supporting base 6 is provided turntably and vertically movably upward and downward at the bottom end part of the shaft. A torch 1 is slidably attached within the perpendicular plane to the lower part of the base 6. A welding machine is thus constructed to move three-dimensionally the torch 1 by operating the respective axes Z, R, X, F and S thereby moving the carriage 2 and swiveling the arm 4 so that the shaft 5 is adjusted to coincide with the vertical central axis of the nozzle 7. |
