METHOD FOR APPLYING REFRACTORIES TO TUNDISH BY HOT SPRAYING

PURPOSE:To apply refractories to the surface of a tundish in short time without cavities and peeling in the stage of applying the refractories by hot spraying to the tundish by disposing a wire net or resembling material on the surface of lining refractories of a specific temp. or above, fastening said material and spraying refractories thereto. CONSTITUTION:A wire net having a suitable size and mesh or resembling material 4 such as expanded metal is fixed by means of bolts or iron wires, etc. onto the surface of lining refractories 2 of a tundish of about >=300 deg.C. Refractories are sprayed to a prescribed thickness onto the net surface 4. The sprayed refractories 3 are tightly adhered and applied to the refractories 2 without cavities resulting from generated steam and peeling by the lath effect of the net 4 by which the life of the tundish is extended. The restriction in the prior art requiring <=300 deg.C to accomplish satisfactory application is eliminated and the time for service and repair is considerably reduced.
