PURPOSE:To provide a titled device which casts a molten metal at various plate widths without solidification and without leakage at each end in continuous casting in which the molten metal is solidified between cooling rolls by fitting movable annular flanges to both ends or intermediate of the cooling rolls and casting the molten metal. CONSTITUTION:Annular flanges 6, 7 which are movable along the roll axis are mechanically tightened or shrinkage-fitted to both ends of one or both of cooling rolls 1 which rotate in the directions opposite from each other and side gates 8A, 8B are pressed to the outside thereof. If a molten metal is cast without solidification between the surfaces of the rolls 1 between such flanges 6, 7, the solidification at both ends 5b of the solidified shell is thoroughly accomplished and there is no possibility of end breakout. Casting plates having various plate widths are obtainable with the same rolls by fitting the flange 7 to the desired width position of the plate. |
