The invention relates to a method and a device for the mechanical washing of articles of flatware or flat crockery, such as plates, saucers or the like. The articles are continuously conveyed and subjected to a wet phase by means of rotary brushing 21 under a detergent water spray 19, 20, and are then next subjected to a phase of physical removal of the remaining moisture by means of projection of a layer of air from nozzles 27, 28 over the entire surface of the articles, which are held in a tilted position, the layer of air blowing the remaining liquid film off in the direction of gravity.
