The method for telecopying enlargements of sections provides that in principle a predetermined magnification scale is used for scanning an original for copying, in which a multiple of the standardised number of lines and picture elements per line is scanned. The light/dark values obtained during this process pass as electrical signals into a receive memory which serially receives this information line by line. From there, only such a number of picture elements is forwarded serially for transmission as corresponds to the selected part of each line corresponding with the enlargement of the section. The position and size of the part area of the original to be copied, to be transmitted as enlargement of a section is signalled by adjusting means to a control device which only allows the part-lines which are within the selected area of the enlargement of the section to be transmitted via the remote line.
