PURPOSE:To prevent a printing material from being unnecessarily fed, so as to avoid wasting said material by a method wherein a power source for a printer is turned OFF in the condition where a line is completed, and when the power source is turned ON subsequently, a motor is returned to a position corresponding to a predetermined exciting phase. CONSTITUTION:When a stepping motor is excited, a rotor thereof is moved to a corresponding position, thereafter a one-direction clutch 8 releases its engagement with a feeding mechanism 7, and a platen roller 1 is rotated without moving the printing material 4. A detector is provided at such a position as to generate a signal when a specified position of an impregnated body 2 of the platen roller 1 which body is impregnated with a black ink comes to a position faced to a printing head 3, and when the moment a detection signal is generated corresponds to energization in a predetermined phase, the motor is reset to the phase. |
