In a method for iterative power matching of a source for radio-frequency electromagnetic waves to a variable load to which the waves are supplied via a waveguide arrangement which has adjustable tuning elements by means of which the reflection factor for the waves which are emitted from the source and are supplied to the waveguide arrangement can be adjusted, as well as an arrangement for carrying out the method, quick automatic compensation of any incorrect matchings between the source and load is ensured in a simple manner, in that the tuning elements (78, 79) are in each case stacked individually, successively, in such a manner that the magnitude of the reflection factor is reduced and assumes a relative minimum, at least in the case of mistuning of one of the tuning elements (78, 79), until the magnitude of the reflection factor is less than a predetermined threshold value. <IMAGE>
