The invention relates to a device for fastening a door hinge or window hinge, of which the frame part or the like has two pins which are arranged transversely to the longitudinal axis of the hinge and which pass through bores of the case and are held by means of a clamping piece in a mortise housing to be fastened to the case. To provide a fastening device of the abovementioned type which is not only simple to produce and assemble, but also has a substantially higher holding force than the hitherto known clamping devices, and which moreover can be mounted in a very confined space, it is proposed, according to the invention, that the mortise housing have a part (2) of U-shaped cross-section, the legs (4, 5) for which are equipped with mutually aligned passage orifices (6, 7) for the pins and in the legs of which is located the clamping piece (8) possessing passage orifices (9, 10) which are assigned to those of the legs (4, 5) of the U-shaped housing part (2), the clamping piece (8) being radially displaceable relative to the U-shaped housing part (2) by means of one or more screw bolts (15). <IMAGE>
