PURPOSE:To detect a required position of a tape rapidly and precisely by travelling the tape at a high speed up to a position close to the required position while reproducing a relative address signal and then reproducing an absolute address signal at a constant speed. CONSTITUTION:The specified absolute address AN of the required position is inputted to an CPU 6P and the tape is quickly fed by a travelling control device 16. When a first Q (the relative address data signal indicated by E) is obtained, the tape is rewound by the prescribed length more than the recording length of the address signal and then travelled at a constant speed by the prescribed length to reproduce the composite address signal shown by C. The composite address signal is supplied to a high pass filter 12 to extract only an intermittent signal from the composite address signal and the absolute address A1 corresponding to the first Q is read out through a wave shaping circuit 13. The CPU 6P compares the absolute address A1 with the adsolute address AN of the required position. When AN>A1, quick feeding is executed and (AN-A1)Qs are calculated, or when AN<A1, quick rewinding is executed and (A1-AN+1)Qs is calculated and then the prescribed length is rewound and reproduced to obtain the required absolute address AN. |
