PURPOSE: To provide an optimum method of background noise elimination by forming the selected kernel picture of a picture to be analyzed, replacing the value of a center picture with the minimum value of picture elements inside a kernel, forming background pictures and performing elimination. CONSTITUTION: A picture film 36 provided with data to be analyzed is arranged on a light box 38 and irradiated with light and optical patterns composed of the data and background noise are converted to video signals in a video camera 40, inputted through a digitizer 44 to a CPU 48 and stored in a memory 56. A user inputs the shape and size of the kernel to be analyzed to the CPU 48 by using a mouse 50 or a keyboard 52. The module 58 of the memory 56 forms the shape and size of the kernel, replaces the value of the center picture with the minimum value inside the kernel and forms the background picture. The module 60 eliminates picture noise from an object picture, the module 62 finds the maximum picture element value of the respective kernels and eliminates high frequency and high amplitude noise and the module 64 sets an interested picture element to the average value. |
