摘要 PURPOSE:To improve accuracy of measurement of the top dead point of a piston by a relatively simple apparatus, by providing an encoder for detecting the rotary angle of a crank shaft, a sensor for detecting the movement amount of the piston, and a counter for the encoder. CONSTITUTION:An encoder 8 for detecting the rotary angle of a crank shaft 3 and a sensor 24 for detecting the movement amount (x) of a piston 2 are attached to an engine block 4. The crank shaft 3 is rotated rightward. When the piston position (x) becomes H+A, the crank shaft is stopped. Then it is rotated leftward. When the piston position becomes H, the content of the counter of the encoder 8 is made to be zero. The crank shaft is further rotated leftward. When H+A is reached, the crank shaft 3 is stopped. It is rotated rightward again. When the height H is reached, the pulse number per unit movement, which is sent by the encoder 8, is doubled. The rightward rotation is further continued. When the content of the counter becomes zero, the crank shaft 3 is stopped. The piston position at this time is the accurate top dead point.
