PURPOSE:To remove efficiently smut of a iron or steel product with a washing machine which removes the smut in the form of a fountain by increasing the flow rate rather than pressure of the fountain and ejecting water into a radial curtain shape. CONSTITUTION:A water ejecting device 36 at the mouth end of an inside ejecting pipe 19 has an ejecting port 43 having the fully circumferentially opened slit shape through which water can be ejected into a radial curtain shape between a stationary plate 29 and a movable pressure regulating plate 40. The plate 40 is constantly regulated in pressure and energized to the plate 29 side by a spring 46. Said plate moves by receiving the pressure from the change of the water pressure in the pipe 19 and changes the effective ejecting width of the mouth 43 thereby increasing the water flow rate while regulating the pressure of the ejected water low. The device 36 is moved back and forth to the forward and backward direction of a washing tank 1 via a chain 32 which is moved back and forth by a reversible motor 30 and the pipe 19. When a pickled coil body C is carried into the tank 1 and is set, the motor 30 and water feed pump 64 are started then the movement of the pipe 19, the turning of an outside ejecting pipe 47 to change direction and the water ejecting operation from the pipes 19, 47 are accomplished simultaneously. The adhesion of smut is thus obviated and the efficient washing of the coil C is made possible. |
