PURPOSE:To obtain high horizontal resolution in both vertical and horizontal screens and to vary the resolution by providing the titled device with a solid- state image pickup element arranging its picture element zigzag and a means specifying the vertical direction of an object coincides with the horizontal or vertical scanning direction of an image pickup element. CONSTITUTION:The picture elements 2 on the solid-state image pickup element 1 are arranged zigzag and odd and even line signals are outputted from the element 1 to signal lines l1, l2. The outputs of the signal lines l1, l2 are amplified by respective amplifiers 3, 4 and the output of the amplifier 4 is applied to a delay line 71 of about 70ns and a delay line 70 of one horizontal period. An even line signal and an odd line signal corrected at their time by the delay line 71 are added by an adder 5 and a signal from the delay line 71 is added to an output from the amplifier 3 by an adder 6. Signals from the adders 5, 6 area applied to signal processing system selecting switches 8, 9 and to be controlled by a switch 10. Thus, the horizontal high resolution is obtained in both vertical and horizontal pictures. |
